Construction of the Biological Sciences Pavilion on the eastern side of Kimberley Street is in line with the University’s decision to preserve the heritage buildings on site, which were originally meant to be demolished to make way for this project.
The heritage spaces that constitute the “Coeur des Sciences” are rearranged as follow: the old forge has been transformed into a "Agora of Science", a place of informal meetings among students, researchers and the general public, that includes an amphitheater of 350 seats. The boiler room accommodates administrative offices and multipurpose rooms.
Two buildings added to the original project, a 12-storey building for student residences and a 6-storey institutional buildings;
Restoration of existing buildings: the boiler room, the old forge and the Kimberley assistance;
Building with many intelligent systems, helping saving drinking water and recovering the heat generated by laboratories.
